We started Breadbox Café with three simple things in mind: delicious food, great people, best local café experience, all made with love.
Our goal is to become neighborhood favorite in our community. Come hang out with the morning paper, a cappuccino and a fresh, hand rolled baked bagel; meet your friends and their families for brunch, to share plates and stories; or join us and other neighbors for delicious dinners. Whenever you come, we guarantee you will always find a warm welcoming atmosphere and leave with a smile.
We only sell the freshest foods. We cook with real eggs, grind our own meat, source ingredients from specialty purveyors, and always favor natural, sustainable, organic, and local produce of the highest quality. Come try our new signature cocktails!
Breadbox Café is the result of collaboration between a local property owner, a developer, and a restaurateur joined together by a shared belief in Long Island City and a desire to support its residential community with complimentary businesses. True to our vision and standards, we care about each and every detail, big as small, and the staff you will meet here will give you a top quality service as well. Always with a smile.
The free-standing building that houses Breadbox Café dates back to the 1950s, when an Esso mechanic's garage opened for business. Breadbox Café's structure is completely original in accordance with the founders' hopes to preserve the best traditions of the past and respect the history of the neighborhood.
The innovative facade—featuring 1600 rolling pins—adds aesthetic flare to the block while reflecting the deeper roots BreadBox Café formed with the community. Each of these rolling pins will feature the name of the donor when you make a donation to The New York Foundling – BreadBox Cafes’ community partner. Breadbox café is a place for you to come back again and again, to feel at home out of home, and to get out with a smile on your face and happiness in your belly each and every time.
